Racing Bulls CEO Peter Bayer is baffled by the controversy surrounding the collaboration between his team and Red Bull. According to the Austrian, it’s clear that the Racing Bulls vehicle is certainly not a ‘copy’ of the Red Bull car.
The partnership between Red Bull and sister team Racing Bulls has often been scrutinized over the past few years. McLaren CEO Zak Brown was the main critic, warning that the collaboration could potentially provide an unfair advantage for both teams.
According to Racing Bulls, which raced under the name Visa RB last year, the criticism is baseless. Racing Bulls CEO Peter Bayer even believes that other teams collaborate more closely with their customer teams. “I’m sure that Charles Leclerc and Haas collaborate more than Red Bull and us,” Bayer told PlanetF1. “I don’t get too bothered by these things, because I know from my time at the FIA how these teams operate. It’s a tough world.”
No Copy
The CEO explains that the criticism is part of the game within Formula 1. “But if you take a step back and listen to our drivers and engineers, you’ll see that our car is different,” Bayer continues. “It’s not a copy. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be where we are.” Racing Bulls, under the name Visa RB, finished eighth in the constructors’ championship in 2024.
