Oscar Piastri finished third in the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday, completing the podium behind teammate Lando Norris and local hero Charles Leclerc. The top three remained unchanged from Saturday, as is often the case in the principality. A double podium for McLaren means the British racing team extends its lead in the championship, although championship leader Piastri sees his lead shrinking.
“Of course, a win would have been better,” Piastri responded dryly. “The practice sessions have been consistently sloppy, so I went into the qualifying with little confidence. Then I got close, but not close enough. And in the end, you always finish here where you qualify. I scored good points, so it’s not all that bad,” he said contentedly.
“The differences here are so small, so I can’t complain after such a sloppy weekend,” Piastri added. “There are a few things we can work on, but overall I can be quite satisfied. So yes, happy with the result,” he concluded positively. Teammate Lando Norris, with his first place, has made a comeback in the world championship. The Brit is now only three points behind Piastri – still the leader in the standings.
