Oscar Piastri is keen to review the incident with teammate Lando Norris during the opening round of the Singapore GP. The Australian started from third place, but was overtaken by his British title rival after a somewhat sluggish start. There was contact between the two McLaren drivers. Piastri expressed his dissatisfaction over the team radio, but could not convince his team to take action. He eventually crossed the finish line in fourth place.

“It was clearly a tough race, and a tough first round,” Piastri sighed afterwards. “I haven’t seen the replay yet,” he referred to the incident with Norris. “I only know what I saw from the car, so I’m going to look back at that.” The Australian then wanted to shift the focus to McLaren’s constructors’ title. The papayas became champions for the second time in a row.

‘Not the race I was hoping for’

“It’s clearly a great night for the whole team,” he said. “Of course, this was not the race I was hoping for, but for the whole team, this is the culmination of hard work – not only this year, but also long before that. I’m really very proud to have been part of this, and of course, I’m incredibly proud of the whole team.” The interviewer then asked Piastri again about the opening round and the collision with Norris. “There was contact, but I need to watch the replay to see exactly what happened,” he responded tersely.”Finally, Piastri was asked if there are any new rules for the drivers now that the constructors’ championship is secured. “I don’t know,” he said with a shrug. “I think we mainly need to take the lessons from this weekend and see what can be improved. The weekend was generally very good. The training went well, the qualification went well, and I may have started a bit slow in the race, but I feel that the pace was quite good.” Piastri’s lead over Norris is still 22 World Championship points after the Singapore Grand Prix.”
