The stage is set! After three consecutive victories, Oscar Piastri is eyeing another win in Imola. On Saturday, he secured pole position for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. The Australian outperformed Max Verstappen, who will join him on the front row. Teammate Lando Norris missed out, having to concede to George Russell and finishing outside the top three.

“It was a good session, but also a tough one,” Oscar Piastri responded after the Imola qualifying. The session was marred by two severe crashes, first from Yuki Tsunoda and later from Alpine debutant Franco Colapinto. “We experienced many delays, the red flag was waved several times,” Piastri noted. “Additionally, the tyres didn’t make things any easier. Yesterday we thought the C6 compound was okay, but today it turned out to be a bit more complicated.” Pirelli introduced a new, extra soft tyre for the race weekend in Imola.

“Fortunately, the team prepared the car excellently for the qualifying,” Piastri continued. “My fastest lap felt very good, although I had to overtake quite a few cars in the final corners. I wasn’t too thrilled to be the first car on the track in Q3 – you obviously don’t have a slipstream,” Piastri explained. “At the same time, you also don’t have dirty air. We have enough pace, so that’s always good to take with us.”
