Lando Norris secured third place in the Singapore Grand Prix, gaining three points on his teammate Oscar Piastri in the world championship race. The British driver acknowledged that it took a considerable amount of skill and effort, especially in the street race won by George Russell, followed by Max Verstappen. “I gave it my all,” Norris commented.
“It was a tough race. However, Max didn’t make any mistakes. I gave everything. There were a few opportunities, but it was too difficult to overtake here. It’s a shame, because the speed was there. I’m happy with the result,” Norris told interviewer Jenson Button on the grid immediately after the race.
Norris had a strong but aggressive start, hitting both his teammate Oscar Piastri and the rear of Max Verstappen’s Red Bull in turn 3. This gained him two positions (at the expense of Piastri and Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli), but it came at a cost in the form of damage to his wing-endplate and a clearly unamused teammate. After all, Piastri nearly ended up in the wall due to Norris’s nudge.
“It was slippery. This is racing. There’s not much more to say. I gave it my all,” was all Norris initially said about the incident in Turn 3.
In the second part of the race, Norris was constantly on Verstappen’s tail. However, he couldn’t get past and had to settle for third place. Nevertheless, the rankings of him and Piastri (fourth) were enough to secure the constructors’ title for the second season in a row. “I’m proud to be a part of this. It’s fantastic,” Norris responded.
