The crash that was anticipated has happened sooner than expected. At the start of the sprint race at the Circuit of the Americas, teammates Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, the two main contenders for the world title, collide. Consequently, this ends their race, allowing Max Verstappen to further reduce his World Championship deficit to the duo.

TV footage reveals that Piastri, who had a better start than Norris, was hit from behind, causing him to crash into Norris’s side. This incident greatly infuriated McLaren’s top executive, Zak Brown. “Some amateur hit Oscar from behind. I need to review the footage, but Nico Hülkenberg (who started fourth) seemed to have no idea what he was doing. What a mess. Our drivers couldn’t have done anything to prevent this.”
