Lando Norris will have to settle for the second starting position for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix today, after Max Verstappen just outpaced him in the qualifiers. For the Brit, everything is at stake tomorrow: a third place is enough to secure his first world title.

After the qualifiers, Norris expressed his disappointment. “It was tough. Max did well, so congratulations to him,” said the McLaren driver. “We did everything we could and my lap was really good. That’s why I’m disappointed that I don’t have the pole for the last race of the year.”

Yet, the Brit is determined to aim for more than just that crucial third spot tomorrow. When asked whether he’s aiming for the podium or the victory, Norris was clear: “I’m not thinking about that right now. At this moment, I’m just disappointed, but of course, I’m going to try to win tomorrow. That’s my goal.”

With Verstappen on pole and teammate Oscar Piastri right behind him in P3, it’s going to be a titanic battle. Tomorrow, we’ll know who among the three is the 2025 world champion!
