Lando Norris, like many others, is closely following the adventures of his colleague Max Verstappen on the Nordschleife Nürburgring. The Dutchman participated in an endurance race on the famous German track again this weekend, and the McLaren driver is also considering trying out the same racing class in the future. “I would love that,” Norris says about a possible future participation in Le Mans.

For the second time in a row, Max Verstappen is using his free weekend between two Grands Prix to make a trip to the Nordschleife Nürburgring. The Dutchman received much praise from his Formula 1 colleagues after his first race – in a down-tuned GT4 car. Lando Norris has previously participated in an endurance race during the 24 Hours of Daytona 2018, but he is certainly considering a return to the racing class in the future.

“I would love that,” the McLaren driver says in Baku. “I saw that Zak (Brown, ed.) was talking about a possible Le Mans participation, now that McLaren is also going back to Le Mans. I would really like to do that too.” The McLaren CEO has previously expressed his wish to travel to Le Mans with Norris and teammate Oscar Piastri. “I won’t be racing in Formula 1 forever, I also want to do other things in my life.”

Future Plans

While the British driver is currently content in the premier class, he wants to explore other racing classes in the future. “I’m not sure yet whether I’ll combine that with Formula 1, or if I’ll do it after my departure from the premier class. I loved participating in the Daytona race. I did that with Fernando Alonso, so that was definitely a great experience.”

For now, Lando Norris is mainly focusing on Formula 1, and the title fight with his teammate Oscar Piastri. “I have a lot of respect for Max for doing such things (racing on the Nordschleife),” adds the McLaren driver. “However, he is in a more comfortable position to do that. He has already won four world championships, so it’s a bit easier for him than for me and Oscar at this moment. In the future, however, I definitely want to do it too (endurance racing).”
