Lando Norris barely clinched second place at the Chinese Grand Prix, trailing behind his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri. He faced significant brake issues in the final stages. “What a race! This is a great one-two for the team,” he said over the radio immediately after the finish.

Later on the grid, Norris elaborated on the challenging opening phase of the race at the Shanghai International Circuit in an interview with Jacques Villeneuve.

“It was scary. As a driver, it’s your worst nightmare when your brakes fail. I lost a lot of time towards the end, but we survived,” said the British leader in the World Championship standings, who won the opening race in Australia last week.

In China, Lando Norris had a strong start to the race, overtaking George Russell at the first corner for P2. “That was according to plan. After that, it was a tough race to manage the tires. Our pace was significantly better in the second part. But Oscar was fast throughout the race. He deserved the victory. I’m happy with my second place.”
