Monaco GP Revamp: Mandatory Double Pit Stops Introduced

In an effort to make the Monaco race more thrilling, the regulations will now require teams to make more pit stops during the Grand Prix, as revealed by the World Council this Wednesday.

Drivers will indeed have to make at least two stops during the Monaco Grand Prix, whether in dry weather or in the rain. The World Council confirmed this Wednesday the suggestion made last week to try to spice up this often boring race.

The rules have therefore been modified for this single Grand Prix, requiring cars to make two mandatory stops to prevent drivers from taking advantage of a red flag to “freely” change tires in the pits without losing time. However, they will not be forced to use all three types of tires, as had been considered at a meeting in London last week.

As for Ferrari, Red Bull, and the French teams, the state of affairs before the start of the F1 winter tests in Bahrain is as follows.
