Former Formula 1 driver Mick Schumacher is confident about his return to the premier class of racing. The 25-year-old German is currently racing for the Alpine team in the World Endurance Championship (WEC), but has also tested a French F1 car. For Schumacher, Formula 1 is the ultimate goal, a championship where his father clinched the title seven times.

As part of his endurance racing commitments, the young driver was in Brazil last weekend for the 6-hour race in São Paulo. When asked about his chances of promotion to Alpine’s Formula 1 team, an optimistic Mick Schumacher responded, “My chances in Formula 1 seem quite good so far. For me, it’s important to return to this branch of motorsport, simply because I want to show what I can do.”

Formula 1 Within Reach

According to Mick Schumacher, Formula 1 is now ‘within reach’. “I just need to ensure that I don’t become too confident, that I keep going and make sure there is a plan B in case it doesn’t work out,” he added. “But my plan has always been Formula 1, now we have to wait and see what opportunities arise. I can wait as long as necessary.”

More Contenders for 2025

For 2025, there are more contenders. Alpine has one more seat to offer for the upcoming season. Reserve driver Jack Doohan recently stated that he has quite a few tests with the Enstone team, while advisor Flavio Briatore has now set his sights on Carlos Sainz.
