Is Mick Schumacher set to make a return to Formula 1? Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel hopes that the young German will get another chance to prove himself in the premier class. The former Red Bull driver is particularly targeting Cadillac, which will be on the grid for the first time in 2026.
Mick Schumacher’s short Formula 1 career came to an end after just two seasons in 2022. Since his departure from Haas, there have been rumors that the driver could make a comeback, although in practice Schumacher is still waiting for that opportunity. The latest team the German is now being linked with is Cadillac. According to German publication BILD, the younger Schumacher has spoken with the top brass of the upcoming eleventh team in Miami.
Support from Vettel
Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel sees his compatriot potentially joining forces with Cadillac. “I’m rooting for him to get another chance in Formula 1, because I believe he can certainly keep up with the other drivers,” the former Red Bull driver told Sport.de. “He has matured so much, and he’s doing great at Alpine in the World Endurance Championship. It would be really nice if he gets a second chance with Cadillac.”
Vettel keeps a close eye on the developments surrounding the young Schumacher and is in regular contact with him. “I’ve heard from him about how the end of his Formula 1 career came about. I wish him all the best.” Since his departure from Mercedes as a reserve driver, Schumacher has had no further ties with Formula 1.
