Could we see Mick Schumacher making a return to Formula 1? The possibility is there, as the German driver confirms that there are ‘very positive’ discussions underway with the Cadillac team. Since his dismissal from Haas, Schumacher has been hoping to return to the premier class, but he is not the only candidate for Cadillac’s two coveted seats.

Mick Schumacher drove for two seasons in Formula 1 as a Haas driver between 2021 and 2022, until the American team decided to replace the German with compatriot Nico Hülkenberg. The driver was then able to work as a reserve driver for Mercedes, but it was not enough for the young Schumacher. The son of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher still dreams of returning to Formula 1. It seems that the German driver is a step closer to making that dream come true.

Schumacher in Talks with Cadillac

Schumacher confirms that he is in talks with Cadillac about a possible collaboration. “Yes, of course the talks are ongoing,” the former Haas driver told Motorsport.com. “The communication has been very positive. It’s a big project and they’ve already attracted a fantastic amount of people for it. It’s something I feel honored to be part of, in negotiation, and it’s a nice position to be in.”

Cadillac itself also confirms that it is talking to Schumacher, but according to Cadillac team boss Graeme Lowdon, the German driver is not the only candidate for a seat. “There are several extremely talented drivers available and we naturally want the best combination,” Lowdon said in the High Performance podcast. Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez are also on the American team’s list of candidates.
