Just a few weeks remain before the start of a new Formula 1 season. It promises to be an exciting year, partly due to the many new faces in the sport. No less than five newcomers are eager to make their official debut. In modern Formula 1, it is rare for so many talents to simultaneously progress from the training classes. These rookies share their stories in a new documentary.
After a year without changes in the driver field – the interim promotions of Franco Colapinto and Liam Lawson notwithstanding – a lot is set to change in 2025. Five newcomers are making their appearance, including Isack Hadjar (Visa RB), Gabriel Bortoleto (Sauber), Oliver Bearman (Haas), Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes), and Jack Doohan (Alpine). In Rookies, a new documentary from F1TV, you get to know these debutants and follow their careers leading up to Formula 1.
‘Unprecedented’
“I am incredibly proud to see the progress of these Formula 1 rookies,” responded Bruno Michel, CEO of Formula 2 and Formula 3. “They have all fought exceptionally hard for their place on the grid. The fact that they have reached the pinnacle of motorsport not only shows that they are highly dedicated, but also that they have been able to prepare well in the junior classes. I wish Gabriel, Isack, Oliver, Andrea, and Jack all the best for the future.”
Ian Holmes, Director of Media Rights and Content Creation at Formula 1, added: “This year is truly unprecedented. We welcome five new drivers from Formula 2 to the Formula 1 grid. I am thrilled that we can share the story of their careers as they prepare for this next step. I can’t wait to see them on the starting grid in Melbourne.” Rookies is now available on F1TV.
