McLaren CEO Zak Brown remains unfazed by criticism that the team is overly managing drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri in the championship battle. According to Brown, the focus is entirely on the team and its performance, not on the opinions of outsiders.
Brown emphasizes that McLaren does not favor either driver in the fight for the world title. According to the American, Norris and Piastri are given equal opportunities. “We are completely focused on ourselves and on doing the right thing — for the racing team, our partners, shareholders, and fans,” Brown said in the Beyond the Grid podcast. “Not everyone has the same information as we do, so we simply let that criticism pass us by.”
According to the American, the transparent and honest approach within the team is a key reason for his drivers’ success. “Lando and Oscar know they have equal chances of becoming world champion. We are open, honest, and communicate clearly. We are not perfect, but we are racers — and they understand that too. We simply do not let the noise from outside enter the McLaren Technology Centre.”
Title Battle Approaching Climax
Norris currently leads the world championship with a 24-point lead over his teammate and title rival Piastri. Max Verstappen follows with a 49-point deficit after his third place in the São Paulo Grand Prix. With three more Grand Prix and a sprint race to go, there are still 83 points up for grabs — enough for Piastri to retake the lead.
