McLaren will once again start as the constructors’ champion at the upcoming United States Grand Prix. After a highly dominant season, the papayas clinched the title in Singapore. However, the drivers’ battle is far from over. Lando Norris has been steadily advancing towards Oscar Piastri in recent races, and Max Verstappen is also still in the title fight. Therefore, in Austin, the team will simply return to business as usual.
“We are entering the US Grand Prix as the 2025 constructors’ champion, and we are very proud of that,” Andrea Stella responded in an official press release. “This weekend there is also a sprint race, which gives both drivers a good chance to continue scoring important points. Moreover, it is one of the drivers’ favorite circuits, so we look forward to providing them with the resources to have a strong race weekend. I am extremely proud of the entire team. So much hard work has been done to get us to this point, but we still have a lot to achieve this year.”
Overtaking Opportunities
Lando Norris, who is still 22 World Championship points behind his teammate, is looking forward to the sprint weekend and the opportunities that the Circuit of the Americas offers. “It’s great to go to Austin as the constructors’ champion,” he reflected. “But we still have six races to go and there are still many important points to be earned in the fight for the drivers’ championship. The US Grand Prix is always beautiful, especially because it’s a sprint weekend. The fans create a fantastic atmosphere and COTA is a fun circuit; it’s fast and offers some nice overtaking opportunities. I can’t wait to race again.”
“Partly because of the sprint weekend, I’m really looking forward to the US Grand Prix,” added teammate Oscar Piastri. The Australian still leads the championship on behalf of McLaren. “I am fully focused on performance and want to get the most out of both races. The circuit has some cool features, especially the fast corners. This makes it excellent for spectacular races. It’s always enjoyable, and this weekend promises to be another great edition.”
