McLaren is looking to bounce back at the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix. The current World Championship leaders suffered a significant setback at the last race weekend in Baku. After an early crash by Oscar Piastri and a disappointing seventh-place finish for Lando Norris, the team could only add six points to their tally – their worst score of the season. In Singapore, where McLaren has the chance to clinify the championship once again, the MCL39 should perform better.

“I’m looking forward to racing under the lights in Singapore again,” responded Lando Norris. “It was good to be back in Woking after Baku, to reset with the team and spend time in the simulator. I have fond memories of last year’s victory and the podium celebrations, and I’m ready to go for it again.” Norris won the last edition of the race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit with a 20-second lead over Max Verstappen. Teammate Oscar Piastri completed the top three.

A Unique Challenge

“I’m really looking forward to getting back in the cockpit,” said the Australian in turn. “On paper, and considering the temperatures there, our car should perform well. With that in mind, I’m looking forward to a very positive weekend.” Piastri is also excited about the support from his own fans. “Singapore is the closest distance to Australia, so there’s always a large Australian delegation at the circuit,” he concluded. “It’s great to have that support.”

McLaren team boss Andrea Stella also responded that the MCL39 should feel at home on the unique street circuit. “Singapore presents unique challenges, especially for the human body,” he added. “The high humidity and time differences affect both the team and the drivers. We are also returning to a location where Lando Norris achieved an impressive victory last year. In addition, we experience more downforce here than in Baku, and a lot of tyre wear; qualities that should suit the car well. The entire team, both on the track and in Woking, is motivated to continue scoring important points for both championships.”
