McLaren’s team currently stands alone at the top of both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships, but they are far from resting on their laurels. Team boss Andrea Stella even labels the upcoming sprint weekend at Spa-Francorchamps as an excellent opportunity for his team to secure even more World Championship points. Meanwhile, drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are looking forward to racing on the ‘legendary circuit’ of the Belgian Grand Prix.

McLaren demonstrated their dominance on the current grid once again in Silverstone, with a one-two finish for Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri respectively. The two drivers even crossed the finish line a good half minute before third-place Nico Hülkenberg. The race was extra special for Norris: it was the first time the Brit won his home race. Two weeks later, he still looks back on the British Grand Prix with a ‘great feeling’.

“Winning at Silverstone was fantastic, but my full attention is now on the double header,” Norris begins in the McLaren preview. The entire Formula 1 grid is on the eve of the last double header, consisting of the Grands Prix of Belgium and Hungary, before the summer break. “I’ve been working hard with the team to prepare myself for the next race. We are motivated and eager to maintain the momentum.”

The first of the two upcoming races is the Belgian GP. Norris is very much looking forward to traveling to the Ardennes. “Spa is always a great circuit to go to.” Oscar Piastri agrees with his British teammate. “It’s a legendary circuit, and it feels great to drive there. Especially because of all the high-speed sections. It’s definitely one of the highlights of the calendar.”

More World Championship Points Up for Grabs

Team boss Andrea Stella is also looking forward to the race at Spa-Francorchamps. The Belgian GP is a sprint race this year, providing an opportunity for McLaren to score even more World Championship points. “After the incredible one-two finish at our home race in Silverstone, we’re heading to one of the most historic circuits on the calendar full of energy,” says the Italian. “Spa is an iconic location and a real challenge for the drivers. I’m sure the fans will enjoy exciting races.”
