Ever dreamed of owning your own Formula 1 car? You’re in luck! The McLaren team is auctioning off several race cars at the end of this season. These aren’t dusty classics, far from it. What makes this auction unique is that McLaren is offering several vehicles that have not yet been unveiled, including the Formula 1 car for the 2026 season.

The auction, in collaboration with the prestigious auction house RM Sotheby’s, coincides with the final round of the current world championship. In addition to next year’s Formula 1 car, the 2026 IndyCar and the 2027 hypercar will also be up for grabs. However, the winner will need to be patient; those who manage to secure these brand-new vehicles will only be able to take possession of them in 2028. In return, they will receive exclusive access to McLaren’s headquarters, as well as behind-the-scenes glimpses at races and events.

Triple Crown

McLaren CEO Zak Brown proudly announced that this is the first time a Formula 1 car is being offered to the public before its official debut. “This auction is an extraordinary opportunity to own a piece of racing history and secure a real race car before its official launch,” said Brown. “Moreover, these incredible cars offer unprecedented VIP access to the team and all the action on the track.”

The McLaren boss explained that the 2026 car will be driven by either Oscar Piastri or Lando Norris. As the team will be active in the WEC, IndyCar, and Formula 1 from 2027, McLaren is aiming for a new Triple Crown – winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Indy 500, and the GP of Monaco. “The Triple Crown is a significant part of our heritage, and we are determined to reclaim it,” emphasized Brown. McLaren remains the only team to have achieved this prestigious motorsport title.
