The smile on Max Verstappen’s face was telling during the interview after the Grand Prix of São Paulo: disbelief and joy were vying for precedence following an impressive victory. “Winning when you have to come from so far behind, well…” He was almost speechless after the win that dealt Lando Norris a massive blow in the title fight.

This was Verstappen’s first Grand Prix victory since the race in Spain in mid-June. And he didn’t see this one coming either. “What a rollercoaster of emotions today. First, the qualification, where we were unlucky with a red flag. Then having to start from P17 and a difficult race ahead. But then we stayed out of trouble, made good decisions, and remained calm.”

All of this combined resulted in a very special victory. He once again demonstrated that he is in a league of his own and why he is a three-time world champion. Verstappen also clocked the fastest lap seventeen times in the rainy Brazilian Grand Prix. “I hope the audience enjoyed it,” he concluded with a broad smile.
