When one thinks of Monaco, super-yachts immediately come to mind. The principality’s harbor is usually filled with the most luxurious vessels, but during the Grand Prix, practically all the expensive boats in the Mediterranean are anchored there. Max Verstappen, who has been handsomely paid by Red Bull for ten years, naturally cannot be left out; his new super-yacht – worth 12.6 million euros – was also spotted in the harbor.
While it is far from the largest boat docked in Monaco this weekend, this dark grey super-yacht (see photos below) is attracting a lot of attention. This is all due to its world-famous owner. The well-known logo on the stern reveals that this is Max Verstappen’s boat.
‘Unleash the Lion’
The Italian sports newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport reported in January that Verstappen had treated himself to a super-yacht. He reportedly placed the order two years ago; the handover took place earlier this year in Italy. It is a Mangusta Gransport 33 from the Italian shipyard Overmarine Group. Verstappen named his super-yacht ‘Unleash the Lion’, the same name he gave to his new private jet in February.
Verstappen’s super-yacht has three floors, nine berths, and a jacuzzi on the foredeck. On board, there is room for twelve guests and five crew members. Unleash the Lion is considerably slower than the Red Bull cars Max Verstappen usually races around in. The maximum speed is about 48 kilometers per hour. However, the yacht has a range of about three hundred nautical miles – perfect for a vacation in the Mediterranean. Verstappen reportedly paid around 12.6 million euros for Unleash the Lion and will have to shell out approximately 1 million euros annually to keep the yacht seaworthy.
