Last Sunday, Max Verstappen silenced all his critics! The Dutchman had been facing a lot of criticism in recent weeks, especially from the British media. However, with his phenomenal victory at Interlagos, he proved that he is worthy of the championship. Red Bull team boss Christian Horner couldn’t resist taking a jab at former champion Damon Hill, one of Max’s biggest critics.

Christian Horner was full of superlatives after Max Verstappen’s performance in São Paulo. After controversial duels with title rival Lando Norris during the races in Austin and Mexico, the Dutchman was convincingly the best in Brazil. In an episode of Sky Sports, Horner was asked about the commotion surrounding his driver. “Some people are just very annoying,” he summarized the criticism.

“I know who these people are, but I don’t pay much attention to them,” he added. “What Verstappen showed in São Paulo was simply a masterclass; he was in a class of his own. Moreover, the car also had a great pace. During the qualification, everything seemed to be against him, but Verstappen turned it around. It was an incredible performance from him and one of his best races ever.”

Damon Hill Changes His Tune

Former world champion and Verstappen critic Damon Hill, who previously stated that the Dutch driver ‘is not capable of racing fairly,’ was in the same broadcast. He had no choice but to congratulate Verstappen on a brilliant victory. “It was absolutely one of his best races ever,” the Englishman added. “Today he really could show how brilliant he is.”

Horner interrupted: “I think we need to record that Damon has said something nice about Max Verstappen!” Hill responded with a smile: “Listen, credit where credit is due. I never said he wasn’t a great driver. He did everything right, cut through the field, and showed why he is such a brilliant driver – and that he is going to become world champion for the fourth time.
