Max Verstappen, celebrated Formula 1 World Champion, is also frequently active in GT racing. The Dutchman made his debut at the Nordschleife Nürburgring last September, where he immediately won a race. However, Verstappen’s passion for all things motorsport is not limited to daylight hours. He also spends his nights optimizing his GT car, he reveals: ‘I just need to go faster’.

Max Verstappen fought for the world title until the last Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi in 2025, and also made his debut in GT3 racing at the Nordschleife Nürburgring. The Dutchman is always busy with racing, but for Verstappen, this only serves as motivation. “If it’s your passion, then it’s easier to devote your time to it,” the driver shares in the Talking Bull podcast. “If you have to do things you don’t enjoy, then it’s mentally exhausting.”Verstappen then reveals that he is not only occupied with his great passion during the day. The Dutchman also contemplates racing at night. “Usually, I think about what else I can change about the GT car. How I can optimize it. In Formula 1, I have so many people in the team around me who do their job well. In the GT world, the team is much smaller, and I still have a lot to learn. I do that in my sleep,” jokes the four-time world champion.

Nightly Sim Racing

The Red Bull driver can’t wait until the next morning to test his ideas. “I wake up and turn on the simulator,” says Verstappen, who is then asked if that ever happens at two o’clock in the morning. “That has happened, yes. Sometimes even at three o’clock in the morning.” For Verstappen, sleep is less necessary: “I just need to go faster. You can sleep when you’re dead,” jokes the world champion.
