Max Verstappen was in a league of his own during the qualifying round for the Austrian Grand Prix today. While the margins in previous qualifying sessions were razor-thin, the Red Bull driver managed to create a significant gap between himself and his competitors. “Every lap felt good,” Verstappen stated.

“The qualifying went very well,” the reigning world champion said immediately after the session. “We made some adjustments to the car based on what we learned this morning in the sprint race, and it worked out well. The car felt much better, and every run was perfect.”

The gap to the competition is large, especially on such a short track as the Red Bull Ring. “I was just able to give more than yesterday,” Verstappen explains his dominance. “It was enjoyable. Every lap felt good, and I wanted to drive every corner perfectly. It’s been a while since we drove to the pole position.”

The Dutchman indicates that Red Bull has tried to be more competitive than in previous races, and it has been successful. “I had confidence in the car. Hopefully, it will be another exciting battle tomorrow, but I’m not thinking about that much yet. I’m mainly happy with how well the car drove today, and hopefully, this will also translate into a good race pace,” Verstappen looks ahead to the Austrian Grand Prix, which begins tomorrow at 15.00 Dutch Time (6.00 UST).
