In a season where competition is fierce, Max Verstappen still finds time to watch the European Football Championship. Despite racing for Red Bull and living in Monaco, Verstappen remains a true fan of the Dutch national team. Amidst a hectic triple header, he hasn’t missed a single game of the Dutch team. “I always send a message to Virgil van Dijk before a match,” he reveals.

Max Verstappen found himself ‘in the lion’s den’ this weekend, at Silverstone. The three-time world champion faced off against the best England has to offer during the British Grand Prix. Yet, he found time on Saturday evening to watch the Dutch team, who were up against Turkey in the quarterfinals of the European Football Championship. In this respect, Verstappen is as much a fan of the Dutch team as the members of his own Orange Army.

“I always watch,” Verstappen said about the Dutch team’s matches. “I also always send a message to Virgil (Van Dijk) before a match.” Does the three-time world champion give any last-minute tips? “It’s not like I have anything to tell that team,” he responded. “They know best how to prepare themselves.”

Verstappen watched as the Dutch team fought their way past the Turks with a 2-1 victory on Saturday. He did this at the home of the big boss; Christian Horner made his television available. On Wednesday, the Dutch team faces the semifinals and their own showdown with the English. “Of course, I hope the Netherlands wins,” Verstappen beamed. “It would be fantastic if they end up in the final.”
