Arvid Lindblad is gearing up for his Formula 1 debut! He’s stepping into the Racing Bulls seat, previously held by Isack Hadjar, who’s moving up to the main Red Bull team. The team management has made it clear: his first year in the top tier will be anything but easy. The British-Swedish driver knows this all too well and is determined not to be naive about his rookie season in F1.
“I’ve climbed through the ranks pretty quickly,” Lindblad confessed to F1.com. “I’ve only raced one season in each category, so I’m used to being thrown into the deep end every year. That will definitely help me adapt to Formula 1.” But he’s keeping his expectations in check. “I’ve never raced in Formula 1, so I don’t know exactly what to expect.” One thing is clear: this young talent has proven he can adapt quickly. He became the youngest race winner ever in both Formula 3 and Formula 2.
“I always thought that by focusing entirely on my performance in Formula 2, I was giving myself the best chance to move up to Formula 1,” he explained. Even during his first practice sessions in 2025, he remained focused on his own season, although those initial forays into the top tier boosted his confidence. “It confirmed that I was on the right track,” he said. “VT1 in Silverstone was very special for me because it was my first session and also a home race. It was a challenge, though, since I was also racing in Formula 2 that weekend.”
No Room for Naïveté in Formula 1
“In Mexico, it was a bit easier,” Lindblad revealed. “I had no other commitments and could fully focus on performing my best. In the end, I was very satisfied with how both practice sessions went, especially the one in Mexico.” That hour of training at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez was the game-changer, landing him a seat with Racing Bulls. “The jump to Formula 1 brings a lot of changes,” he added. “Not just compared to Formula 2, but also due to the significant regulation changes.”
“The team management has warned me that it’s going to be tough,” he concluded. “I must not think too naïvely. I’m fully aware that this will be a big challenge. Leading up to the tests in Barcelona, I have a lot of work ahead of me, and even during the season, I’ll have much to learn. We’ll need to develop together. As long as I stay open-minded, that’s nothing new,” he stated confidently. “I just need to work hard and keep focusing on myself.”
