Lewis Hamilton has sold his entire car collection. He revealed this in the lead-up to the race weekend in Azerbaijan. The British veteran – a passionate car enthusiast – always had an impressive fleet of vehicles, but says he is now focusing more on art objects. Instead of visiting car dealerships, the seven-time world champion now prefers to frequent art galleries.

“I don’t have any cars anymore,” Lewis Hamilton told the media in Baku. “I’ve sold all my cars – I care more about art these days.” In an interview with The Athletic, he delved further into his new passion. “I love going to galleries,” he shared. “That’s when I can truly enjoy the experience of art. Or just sit at home with a glass of wine and admire a piece of art. I also really enjoy buying works from young, emerging black artists and African art. There’s just so much to learn in that world. Most of my time is spent online searching for art.”

Million-Dollar Collection

His beloved cars had to make way for this new hobby, even though Lewis Hamilton had built up an impressive collection during his illustrious Formula 1 career. Over the years, he was spotted in various million-dollar vehicles. The highlights of his collection included the Ferrari LaFerrari, the iconic McLaren F1, the Shelby Cobra 427, and the Pagani Zonda LH – naturally named after the owner. British tabloids speculate that Hamilton’s entire fleet of cars is worth nearly 15 million euros.

However, his fondness for cars has not completely faded. “One of the things I really want to do is design a Ferrari myself,” he stated earlier this year in Shanghai. “I want to make an F44. Based on the F40, but with the right manual transmission. I’m going to work on that in the coming years.” Modifying a classic Ferrari, universally adored by purists and enthusiasts, to suit personal preferences; sacrilege? Perhaps not when Lewis Hamilton does it. Generally, Ferrari frowns upon customers who personalize their vehicle, but we are talking about an employee of the Italian manufacturer here – possibly the highest paid of all.
