Lewis Hamilton has no regrets about his decision to switch to Ferrari. The British driver was asked the question after he called his first year with the Scuderia in Las Vegas ‘the worst season I’ve ever had’. A week later, Hamilton sees a much brighter future at Ferrari: ‘I’m looking forward to what the team is building for next year’.

Lewis Hamilton did not mince words after the GP Las Vegas. “I feel terrible,” said the defeated Ferrari driver after the race. “It’s the worst season I’ve ever had.” The seven-time world champion started from the nineteenth spot, but even after scoring a few World Championship points, Hamilton was far from satisfied. A week later in Qatar, the Ferrari driver is still in a gloomy mood.

“I’m not looking back, only forward,” says Hamilton when asked at the press conference in Qatar about his first Ferrari season. “The results speak for themselves.” Earlier this year in Austin, the Brit set the unwanted record of a Ferrari driver with the most starts without achieving a podium finish. With only two Grands Prix left, Hamilton is also facing his first season without a top-three finish.

However, the Ferrari driver now sees 2026 in a more positive light than just after the GP Las Vegas. Hamilton was asked in Doha about his previous statements regarding the next season. “I would be surprised if there is a single driver who is looking forward to next year at this moment,” said the world champion. “We don’t have much energy left after a long season. But what I said (in Las Vegas) was in the heat of the moment. I am looking forward to what the team is building for next year.”

No Regrets About Ferrari Switch

Hamilton began his adventure with Ferrari at the beginning of 2025 with a lot of confidence, and especially the tifosi hoped that the arrival of the British driver would finally bring a new world title for their beloved team. For Hamilton, the passion of both the fans and Ferrari employees makes the disappointing results even harder to accept. “The passion is what makes the brand so special,” the driver explains. “But it makes difficult weekends even harder. You see how hard everyone works, and the results do not reflect that.”

However, Hamilton has absolutely no regrets about his decision to swap Mercedes for the Italian team. “I don’t regret moving to Ferrari. I know it takes time to build a team. So yes, I would do it all over again.”
