Lewis Hamilton has expressed his excitement at the prospect of working with master designer Adrian Newey at Ferrari in the upcoming season. The British driver shared his enthusiasm during the traditional FIA press conference in Miami, where the sixth race of the F1 season is scheduled for Sunday. “I would love it, both professionally and personally,” Hamilton said with a broad smile.
It was confirmed on Wednesday that Adrian Newey is leaving Red Bull Racing, a direct result of the internal power struggle within the team of three-time world champion Max Verstappen. It’s clear that both Ferrari and Mercedes are willing to dig deep into their pockets for Newey, whose car designs have significantly contributed to Red Bull’s success.
‘Newey Tops My List’
In Hamilton’s view, who is swapping Mercedes for Ferrari after this season, Newey would be a tremendous asset for the Italian racing team. “Adrian has an impressive track record. He has done an incredible job. If I had a list of people I would like to work with, he would be at the top. The knowledge he possesses is unparalleled,” said the seven-time world champion.
Hamilton: “He would be a fantastic addition to the team. And the team is already strong, as they are proving again this season. Yes, I would also like to work with him on a personal level.”
