Lewis Hamilton reveals what he hopes people will remember about him in Formula 1. Although Hamilton isn’t overly concerned with his legacy yet, the soon-to-be Ferrari driver hopes to leave the world a little better than he found it.

Hamilton has been racing in Formula 1 since 2007, and during his time as a driver, he has set quite a few records. The British driver has become a seven-time world champion, a record he shares with Michael Schumacher to this day. After twelve seasons with Mercedes, Hamilton is now moving to Ferrari, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his career. This transition has prompted some introspection from the world champion, including what he hopes to leave behind in Formula 1.

Reflecting on Legacy

“I find it difficult to talk about legacies because I don’t wake up every day thinking about the legacy I want to leave behind,” Hamilton admits. “I don’t work on that, I ultimately work on trying to be the best version of myself. I hope that the decisions I make, the things I say, and the actions I take will hopefully have a positive impact on people.”

Leaving the World a Better Place

Hamilton is very appreciative of his fans, “most of them are so kind and try so hard,” and therefore hopes to use his platform to leave the world a little better. “I think about what I’m going to do with this platform or this microphone I have, and what I can actually do with the little time we have on this planet,” he wonders.

“What can I do to leave the world better than when I started?” continues the Mercedes driver. “I can imagine that all good people in the world probably want to do that, right? That’s what I think about every day.”
