Charles Leclerc started from pole position at the Hungarian Grand Prix, but was unable to capitalize on this advantageous position. The Ferrari driver ultimately had to settle for a disappointing fourth place. Over the team radio, he expressed his dissatisfaction with Ferrari’s approach and the setup of the SF-25. After the race, he was informed that technical issues had hampered his performance, prompting him to retract his earlier comments.

“I was wrong,” Charles Leclerc admitted to Viaplay. “At first, I thought we had made a mistake in setting up the car. But I have since received more information. We had a problem with the chassis, which left us with little other choice.” Leclerc started the race strongly and seemed to have a chance at victory.

Chassis Issues

“It’s just incredibly frustrating,” he explained. “One moment you’re in the thick of the battle for victory, everything feels good and then… from the fortieth lap, I noticed something was off,” the Monegasque driver reflected. “The problem got progressively worse. By the end of the race, it was just a matter of finishing. I had to concede over two seconds per lap to the pace of the rest.”

The disappointment was palpable for the Ferrari driver, who realized this could have been a unique opportunity. “It’s very unfortunate that we had such a problem on a day like today,” he sighed. “This might have been our only chance to win a race this season. I’m extremely frustrated, but I have to take back my words from the car. It wasn’t our fault, as I initially thought.”
