Charles Leclerc returned to the podium in Austin after an exciting United States Grand Prix. The Monegasque took a risk by being the only driver in the top to start on the soft tire. Max Verstappen took the victory, Lando Norris came in second, and after a fierce battle, Leclerc was content with P3.
“I was a bit worried when I saw that I was the only car on the red tire,” Leclerc admitted. “I knew it was a risky choice. I was hoping to immediately surge to the lead, but that was a bit too optimistic. Fortunately, we did gain a position and that helped a lot in the race.”
The duel with Norris provided spectacle in the closing stages of the race. “I really enjoyed that,” said Leclerc. “It’s a bit of a shame that I lost my second place at the end, but I had a lot of fun in the car. Regardless, I’m satisfied with my podium finish considering it’s been a tough second half of the season and we didn’t start this weekend well.”
