Ferrari unexpectedly performed well in Monaco, thanks to Charles Leclerc‘s second podium finish of the season. Lewis Hamilton also put in a strong qualifying performance, although the Briton lost his fourth starting position due to a three-place grid penalty. Nevertheless, team boss Frédéric Vasseur sees an upward trend for the Scuderia in recent races. The Frenchman hopes to maintain this momentum for the Spanish Grand Prix.

With a second and fourth place in the Monaco qualifying, it seemed in the city-state that Ferrari had overcome its problems. However, Lewis Hamilton was hit with a three-place grid penalty after the session for impeding Max Verstappen, which meant the Dutchman inherited the Briton’s fourth starting position. Despite this, the seven-time world champion drove one of the more successful races in Monaco this year, finishing fifth. Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc achieved his best result of the season with a second-place finish.

Ferrari Team Principal Reflects on Recent Positive Races

Ferrari team boss, Frédéric Vasseur, is primarily reflecting on a few positive races for the Scuderia ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix. “We arrive in Barcelona after two positive races, while we also made progress in our qualifying performances during the last race in Monaco,” analyzes the Frenchman.

Goals for the Upcoming Weekend

For the team boss, the goal for the upcoming weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is clear. “Our aim is to maintain the momentum. The stricter static tests for the flexibility of the front wing will come into effect during this Grand Prix, and we must also take that into account.”

Positive Trend

Despite the Scuderia’s positive results during the weekend in Monte Carlo, Vasseur does not believe that the inconsistency the team has been struggling with all season has disappeared. “Even though we had a good weekend, a good race this season, it doesn’t completely change the bigger picture,” the Frenchman emphasizes. “However, I also feel that there was an upward trend during the last two or three races. The race in Imola, the race pace in Jeddah, and the complete weekend in Monaco were all good. If we can start the second half of the season in this way, things will go well.”
