At the FIA Gala in Uzbekistan, Charles Leclerc expressed his desire to participate in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in the future. The 28-year-old Ferrari driver wants to follow in the footsteps of his colleague Max Verstappen and combine his Formula 1 career with endurance racing. Verstappen has already ventured into long-distance racing this year and is possibly hoping to participate in the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring next year.

During the FIA Gala, Charles Leclerc was asked about Ferrari’s success in endurance racing. The Scuderia has won the last three editions of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This year, among others, former Formula 1 driver Robert Kubica took home the victory. Leclerc confirmed that he too is interested in participating. “I’m absolutely up for it,” he admitted. “I’ve said this before. Now I just need to find a way to combine Formula 1 and Le Mans. Because if I commit to something, I want to be able to win. And that requires a lot of preparation, as the level is simply very high. But I would definitely like to do it.”

Verstappen’s Endeavors in Endurance Racing

Max Verstappen has managed to combine his Formula 1 title fight this year with several endurance racing appearances. He earned his racing license for the Nürburgring Nordschleife and won his debut race in the NLS class in a Ferrari 296 GT3. He is also considering participating in the 24 hours of the Nürburgring, which takes place on the third weekend of May. For Leclerc, it is currently necessary for the Formula 1 team to match the success of the endurance program. He spoke proudly of Ferrari’s legacy in motorsport and the achievements of his colleagues.

“The legacy that Ferrari leaves in motorsport will always be there,” Leclerc concluded. “I am extremely proud to be a part of it in some way. Now it’s up to us to meet expectations, just like my teammates in the endurance races do.” Leclerc finished in fifth place in the world championship in 2025 and did not secure any victories.
