Charles Leclerc has expressed his delight that Ferrari team boss Frédéric Vasseur will be staying on board for the coming years. The Monegasque driver praises the Frenchman for his down-to-earth approach and sense of humor. Leclerc is also pleased with the stability that Vasseur’s contract extension brings to Ferrari, noting that ‘it takes time to build something,’ the driver concludes.

After weeks of speculation about the future of team boss Frédéric Vasseur at Ferrari, the definitive word came on the Thursday before the Hungarian Grand Prix: the Frenchman is to stay for the time being. Ferrari has secured the team boss with a multi-year deal, and Charles Leclerc could not have wished for better news. “I’m really happy about this,” the Monegasque driver tells the press conference. “There were quite a few rumors going around, so it’s very nice to have confirmation now.”

The Ferrari driver explains how the down-to-earth Vasseur balances out the ‘more emotional’ racing team, and the tifosi (Ferrari fans). “Italians, and that’s also what makes Ferrari so special, are incredibly passionate about Ferrari,” Leclerc continues. “However, Fred knows how to put his emotions aside to focus on the work. In addition, he obviously also has other qualities, and all of that together makes him very important.”

Leclerc praises the Frenchman for his humor and his ability to diffuse any tensions within the team with his wit. The Monegasque further explains that with Vasseur’s contract extension, Ferrari also maintains a certain stability within the team. “Having Fred by my side for the time being is wonderful. It takes time to build something,” he says.

Hamilton’s Documents

The latter is also known to Lewis Hamilton, who is in his first season in red this year. Last week in Belgium, the Brit revealed that he sends several ‘documents’ to his team to improve the 2026 car, among other things. However, Leclerc does not follow the example of the seven-time world champion. “Of course, I am also involved in the process, but I do not create documents,” says Leclerc. “Every driver has their own way of communicating with the team, my way is different from Lewis’s, but I am certainly closely involved.”
