During the Qatar Grand Prix, Lando Norris received a ten-second stop-and-go penalty for not slowing down under yellow flags. This penalty caused the McLaren driver to drop from second to last place, significantly impacting his race.

“Honestly, I don’t know what I did wrong at this point,” Norris said immediately after the race to Sky Sports. “I’m not an idiot. If I knew there was a yellow flag, I would have slowed down. I don’t know if I missed it or was just being stupid.”

“But the rule is that you have to slow down as soon as there’s a yellow flag, so I understand the stewards’ decision,” the McLaren driver added. Norris’s penalty also has implications for the constructors’ championship, as Ferrari has now closed the gap on McLaren in the title race.

“Of course, it’s a missed opportunity, that’s clear. The team gave me a great car today, but I let them down,” Norris sounded disappointed. “I couldn’t have done worse today.
