Lando Norris is ready to compete for the world title again in 2025. The Brit claims to have learned a lot during the previous season, and is particularly proud of his achievements, including his first four Grand Prix victories. The only painful moment was when the McLaren driver Lando Norris realized that Max Verstappen was unbeatable.
In 2024, Lando Norris repeatedly put Max Verstappen under pressure, but had to watch as the Dutchman walked away with the world title. The gap of ultimately 63 points proved insurmountable in Las Vegas.
“When the realization sinks in that ‘it’s over’, it’s tough,” Norris tells the BBC podcast F1: Back at Base about that moment. “This is what I’ve been doing since I was a child, this is all I want to do. So as soon as that candle is blown out and it’s over, it hurts.”
Taking Pride
Despite Norris’ disappointment that he couldn’t take the world cup home, the young Brit is proud of his achievements in 2024. The McLaren driver won his first four Grands Prix, and was able to stand on the top step of the podium for the first time during the Miami GP.
“It’s been a year in which I’m actually quite proud of my achievements,” continues Norris, who felt the pressure throughout the season. “I’ve made my mistakes, but at the same time, I’ve learned a lot from those mistakes.” The Brit believes he has everything it takes to compete for the world title again in 2025. “I’m excited to enter 2025, knowing that I’ve learned a lot, that I’ve improved a lot, and that I’m ready to take on the fight with everyone.”
