Lando Norris has also responded to the discontinuation of the Dutch GP. The McLaren driver is disappointed that Formula 1 will be making its last trip to Zandvoort in 2026, as it’s one of the Grand Prix weekends he enjoys the most. “Even though all the fans are there for Max Verstappen,” Norris adds with a chuckle.

In early December, the organization behind the Dutch GP announced that the Dutch race will be on the Formula 1 calendar for the last time in 2026. Although TT circuit Assen chairman Arjan Bos indicated that his circuit is certainly open to taking over from Zandvoort if the opportunity arises, it currently seems that the Grand Prix will disappear from the Netherlands altogether.

Lando Norris, in any case, is disappointed that Formula 1 will no longer be traveling to Zandvoort in two years’ time. “I naturally enjoy it, we had a great race. It’s always a very fun weekend for me. They are some of the most passionate and exciting fans, I would say, of the entire season,” the McLaren driver explains.

Most Enjoyable Experience

The McLaren driver claimed victory on the circuit in the dunes last summer, but he has always looked forward to the Dutch Grand Prix weekend in previous years as well. “It’s one of the events I truly enjoy the most, even though all the fans are there for Max Verstappen. There’s a great atmosphere. Good music, it’s busy, it’s noisy, I love it. It definitely ranks much higher on my list than many other races. So, I’m surprised why the contract has not been extended further, but I’m not privy to all the reasoning,” he said.
