Lando Norris convincingly won the São Paulo Grand Prix. The Brit started from pole position and drove a controlled race from the first lap, distancing himself from the field for a well-deserved victory. Max Verstappen made a strong comeback. Starting from the pit lane, the Dutchman fought his way forward. Thanks to a smart late stop for soft tyres, he overtook George Russell in the final stages and secured a spot on the podium. Kimi Antonelli managed to stay just ahead of him, taking second place, while Verstappen crossed the finish line in third.
Title rival and teammate Oscar Piastri had a difficult day. The Australian received a ten-second time penalty for causing an incident at the restart and lost valuable positions. He eventually finished in fifth place. The restart brought drama for Ferrari. Charles Leclerc had to abandon his race after a collision with Antonelli, while Lewis Hamilton, who had sustained damage since the first lap, also could not finish.
Midfield Battle
For the Brazilian fans, it was another disappointment. Gabriel Bortoleto ran into trouble in the opening lap when Lance Stroll pushed him onto the grass, causing him to crash into the wall. This weekend has been tough for the Sauber driver: during the sprint race, he crashed hard into the tyre barrier on the final lap, completely wrecking his car. Oliver Bearman drove an impressive race from the eighth starting position. With daring overtakes, he fought his way through the field and managed to secure eight points. Racing Bulls also had a productive weekend in the constructors’ championship. Liam Lawson finished in P7 and Isack Hadjar in P8, earning the team valuable points. Pierre Gasly secured the final point of the day.
