McLaren driver Lando Norris is thrilled with his first victory in Monaco. Although the principality rarely delivers spectacular races, it remains a special honor for many drivers to be the fastest here. Despite this victory, Norris has no ambitions to achieve the triple crown status – he is not interested in the Indy 500, another iconic race that took place this weekend.

After the race, Lando Norris was asked if he ever hopes to win the Indy 500. Not really, it turned out from his answer. “I have a lot of respect for those guys,” Norris referred to the IndyCar grid. “And I congratulate Robert Shwartzman on pole position. It was quite impressive. I used to be his teammate in Formula Renault, so seeing him do something like that, I think it’s pretty cool.”

‘Want to be able to steer right’

However, Norris is not envious of the drivers who raced the Indy 500. “That’s something I’ll never do,” he emphasized. “I can confirm that – I’m just not interested. It’s not my thing, not what I like. Again, I have a lot of respect for all those drivers. There are many incredibly talented drivers in America, and some of them could really excel in Formula 1. But I also like to steer right occasionally,” he concluded with a wink. “That’s the most important thing.”

Charles Leclerc, who finished behind Norris in Monaco, also has little interest in the Indy 500. “It’s an insane race,” he responded, “but I don’t think I’ll ever do it. That’s really another level of madness. Besides, I’m happy in Formula 1. I love this sport and that’s what I’m fully focused on. When all this is over, I would like to race Le Mans with my brother. Of course, I also have a lot of respect for all those drivers,” the Monegasque added, “and I will try to follow the race as much as possible.”
