Following the Dutch Grand Prix, Jos Verstappen has seen enough; Red Bull fell short against McLaren at Zandvoort, causing his son Max to lose points to rival Lando Norris. According to Verstappen senior, it’s high time for Red Bull to ‘take a good look in the mirror’ and overhaul the entire organization. “At this rate, it’s going to be a very tough year.”

Former Formula 1 driver Jos Verstappen has repeatedly expressed his dissatisfaction with Red Bull this year. After the Dutch Grand Prix, he was once again unhappy with the team; his son Max Verstappen had to watch as Lando Norris took the victory. “Maybe I shouldn’t say it, but I’m going to anyway,” Verstappen senior told De Telegraaf. “The fact that you have to go back to the car from the beginning of this year says enough. Red Bull just doesn’t have it together right now. I think they need to take a good look in the mirror.”

Verstappen’s Father Expresses Concern Over McLaren’s Victory at Zandvoort

According to Jos Verstappen, it was inevitable that McLaren would triumph at Zandvoort. “Max knew this was coming,” he explained. “He simply had no chance here. It’s going to be really tough this year. Max is doing everything he can, but he doesn’t have the material to finish it. It was already exceptional that he qualified second.”

Verstappen Senior’s Criticism of the Team

“Not everything should be smoothed over,” Verstappen senior said later to BILD. “It’s time – if it’s not already too late – to be critical. Good people are leaving the team. I am very dissatisfied with what is happening. You can’t disguise it, Max is simply not happy with this car. It’s now up to Christian Horner to get the team back on track.” Can the Englishman turn things around in time within the team? “I would be surprised,” said Verstappen. “The whole team needs to be overhauled.”

Looking Forward to the Upcoming GP in Italy

With the upcoming GP in Italy, all eyes will be on how the team responds to these criticisms and whether they can improve their performance.
