Jean Todt has expressed dissatisfaction with his current relationship with Ferrari. The 78-year-old Frenchman was at the helm of the racing team during one of the most successful periods of the Italian stable. With the help of the brilliant Michael Schumacher, Todt won multiple championships for the Scuderia, but nowadays he regrets the cooled relationship.
In a recent interview with La Repubblica, Jean Todt explained that he has hardly any contact with Ferrari. “Since my departure, I have occasionally spoken with some members of the team,” he told the Italian newspaper. “But since I left the FIA, I have never had contact again. I must say that I am amazed, especially because I invested so much time and effort in that incredible company and we achieved so many great results together.”
Dream Team
There is no disputing Jean Todt’s influence. In sixteen years, he won numerous championships with the Scuderia. “When I started in 1993, the castle was in ruins,” he explained. “The design team was in England and we had an outdated wind tunnel. But slowly we all built up a gem together. Of course, I couldn’t have done it alone. My strength was in building and maintaining a team, a dream team.””In 2009, Jean Todt stepped down from Ferrari and became the president of the FIA. After three terms of four years each, the maximum period a chairman may serve, he resigned his duties in 2021. “The fourteen championships we won together are still in the history books,” Todt concluded. “It was the best period in Ferrari’s history.”
