F2 driver Jak Crawford hopes to make his debut in Formula 1 in 2026. The 20-year-old American, once a Red Bull talent and now associated with Aston Martin’s training program, is actively exploring options with various teams, including the new Cadillac team.

Crawford is in his third season in Formula 2 and is making an impression: with three victories and a series of top rankings, he currently stands third in the championship. However, his future in Formula 1 is far from certain. “It really depends on what I do in Formula 2 this year,” he tells Motorsport.com. “If I win the championship, that would be great for my career. It could lead to many opportunities, whether it’s a seat on the grid or another reserve role.”

A debut with Aston Martin seems unlikely with both Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll under contract. Therefore, Crawford is looking more broadly: “We are trying to find space everywhere on the grid, whether it’s with Cadillac or Aston Martin or other teams.”

Cadillac, which aims to enter Formula 1 in 2026, has openly expressed the desire to bring an American driver to the grid. Given his performance and nationality, Crawford seems a logical candidate. But he remains grounded: “The only thing I can do is perform well in F2. Everything else is out of my hands.”
