Former Formula 1 driver Jack Doohan failed to impress during his participation in a Super Formula test at Suzuka. The Australian, who was let go by Alpine after six Grands Prix this year, was added to the test program at the last minute. Doohan represented Kondo Racing, but drew attention for the wrong reasons; he crashed three times in the same corner over three days.

Jack Doohan went off the track three times at the Degner Curve. The 22-year-old driver was added to Kondo Racing’s test lineup at the last minute. He is expected to make his debut in the Japanese racing class in 2026. On the third and final test day, the former Alpine driver finished twenty-sixth out of thirty-four participants; within the rookie field, he was ninth out of fourteen. Former McLaren junior Ugo Ugochukwu clocked the fastest time at Suzuka.

Jack Doohan, son of legendary MotoGP driver Mick Doohan, is trying to revive his career after losing his Alpine seat to Franco Colapinto earlier this year. He also struggled on the Japanese asphalt during his brief Formula 1 career. In the second free practice session ahead of the Japan GP, he had a severe crash. Afterwards, Alpine revealed that Doohan had not closed his DRS flap going into the first corner. He went straight off the track at a speed of over 250 km/h.
