Alpine driver Jack Doohan has responded to ongoing rumors about his F1 future. The Australian has yet to race his first full-time weekend for Alpine, but is already rumored to be losing his seat to reserve driver Franco Colapinto. “I just have to do my utmost every time I get in the car,” Doohan responds calmly to the threat from Colapinto.

Jack Doohan has not yet raced as a driver for Alpine, and the Australian is already fearing for his seat. Advisor Flavio Briatore is reportedly not convinced by Doohan, and would rather see Franco Colapinto in the car alongside Pierre Gasly. The rumors about Colapinto as a potential replacement for Doohan extend beyond just the Alpine team, as Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko also expects “Doohan not to finish the season.”

Four Drivers Eyeing My Seat, Says Doohan

“There’s no point in discussing rumors,” Doohan responds during the FIA press conference to all the speculation about his future. “I have a contract for this year, if not for several years. I just have to do my utmost every time I get in the car.” Colapinto is not the only reserve driver vying for Doohan’s seat. F2 drivers Paul Aron and Kush Maini, as well as 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Ryo Hirakawa, are also reserve drivers for the French team in 2025.

“We have four reserve drivers who probably want my seat, and if not, maybe Pierre Gasly’s,” the Australian continues. “Therefore, I’m going to enjoy every race as if it’s my last, because I just want to enjoy every moment in the car.” Doohan is kicking off his first season in the premier class with his home race in Melbourne.
