Isack Hadjar has made a strong impression in his debut year in Formula 1. The young Parisian is already seen by many as a potential future teammate of Max Verstappen at Red Bull, following a series of strong performances in the midfield. Although Hadjar scored fewer points in the recent Grands Prix than in the opening phase of the season, the Racing Bulls team remains consistently positive about his performance.
After a disappointing Formula 1 debut – he crashed during the formation lap in the opening race in Melbourne – Hadjar bounced back impressively. Consistent performances, particularly in the qualifiers, have already earned him 22 World Championship points. This puts him in thirteenth place in the drivers’ standings at the start of the summer break, ahead of both teammate Liam Lawson and Red Bull colleague Yuki Tsunoda. His best result so far was an impressive sixth place in the prestigious Monaco GP.
‘First to Look at Himself’
New Racing Bulls team boss Alan Permane is full of praise for his protégé and emphasizes that it is primarily Hadjar’s attitude that sets him apart. “When things are not going well, or when he is lagging behind his teammate, he is the first to look at himself,” Permane told the media in Hungary. “That is a tremendous strength. He works hard, stays focused, and doesn’t immediately point to the car or Pirelli. He asks himself: ‘What can I do better?’ And that helps the whole team move forward.”
After a strong start to the season, Hadjar’s point harvest somewhat stalled; in the last five races, he only scored one World Championship point. However, he remains positive about his debut year. “Honestly, there are so many positive points to take away,” the French-Algerian driver responded on Formula1.com. “The car is good, I’m fast – I just need to make better use of it when it really matters. We’ve had some bad luck in the last races, but everything indicates that we’re heading for a strong second half of the season.”
Alan Permane, the new team boss of Racing Bulls, is very positive about Isack Hadjar.
