Isack Hadjar is the latest driver to be announced for the 2025 Formula 1 grid. The young driver reveals how Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko welcomed him to the Red Bull family in a special way. Furthermore, Hadjar expresses his excitement to share the racetrack with Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, and Max Verstappen.
Isack Hadjar is one of six rookies making their debut in Formula 1 in 2025. The Franco-Argentinian driver had to watch last December as fellow debutant Gabriel Bortoleto took the title in Formula 2, while he himself secured second place in the championship. However, this was enough for Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko to promote Hadjar.
“It really touched me that Helmut came all the way to Italy to personally sign my contract,” Hadjar tells Canal+. The Franco-Argentinian appreciates his collaboration with the 81-year-old Austrian. “I owe him a lot. The relationship I have with him is more than just boss-employee. If things are not going well, he won’t just criticize me. He respects me as a person and for my approach to the sport.”
Sharing the Track with Verstappen
Hadjar is set to replace Liam Lawson at Racing Bulls, the sister team of Red Bull. Lawson has become the new teammate of Max Verstappen, which has opened up a spot for Hadjar at the former Visa RB. “I feel truly fortunate and privileged,” the rookie continues. “I think it will really sink in when I’m in Bahrain, during the pre-season tests. I’ll be sharing the track with Lewis, Alonso, Max.”
Despite Hadjar’s awareness of the high standards set by the current generation of drivers, he is determined to prove himself. “I know myself. As soon as I get in the car, I want to beat my teammate. The first races will be tough, but I need to ensure I don’t get discouraged.”
