With two fists in the air and an unprecedented celebration with his mechanics, Isack Hadjar was overjoyed on Sunday in Zandvoort after securing third place. “I’m so happy for everyone,” he said.
Hadjar laid the foundation for his first-ever F1 podium finish during the qualifying round, where he came in fourth. “But to then finish third, it feels surreal. I was surprised that we were able to maintain that fourth position during the race. It’s unfortunate for Lando Norris that he had to drop out, but we didn’t make any mistakes and we benefited from that. The car was fantastic, I’m really very happy for everyone on the team.”
With his performance, a dream has come true for Hadjar, who received a big hug from Max Verstappen after the finish. “This is your goal as a young boy, what you want, what you dream of,” said the Frenchman. “This may be my first podium, but it certainly won’t be my last.”
