Following the Grand Prix of São Paulo, Lewis Hamilton could only conclude that the weekend was a massive disappointment. The Brit dropped out early after contact in the opening phase and spoke afterwards about frustration, disappointment, and a season that, in his view, resembles more of a nightmare than a dream.

What began so promisingly in 2025 – with, among other things, a sprint victory in the second Grand Prix weekend – has slowly turned into a series of setbacks for Hamilton. “This season is a nightmare, and I’ve been living in it for a while,” he admitted candidly. “The contrast between the dream of driving for such a great team and the nightmare of the results we’ve had, with all the ups and downs, is tough.” Despite the setbacks, he tries to keep his spirits up. “This weekend was disastrous and disappointing for everyone,” he said. “I’m trying to keep my head above water and stay positive.”

No Chance

Hamilton encountered problems early in the opening phase. The Brit was right behind Franco Colapinto’s Alpine, but didn’t pull out of the slipstream in time and destroyed his own front wing. Debris flew in all directions and what remained of the wing slid under his SF-25, causing immediate damage to Hamilton. “After I was hit, it felt like the rear suspension was broken,” he recounted afterwards. “But the team said everything was fine. However, as soon as I went through the fast corners, the rear kept breaking out. I didn’t stand a chance.”

The result in Brazil visibly hurt Hamilton. “A weekend to forget,” he sighed. “That’s a shame, because I love Brazil – the fans, the energy here – and I empathize with everyone on the team. Every person at Ferrari gives everything they have, week in and week out.” For the second time this season, the Brit did not see the checkered flag. Earlier in Zandvoort, his race ended in the wall. “To go home with nothing, to not finish for the second time this year, is terrible,” said Hamilton. “I feel really bad for the team.”
