Hamilton Targets First Ferrari Podium in Final Races

Expectations were high when Lewis Hamilton was welcomed in Maranello earlier this year. Ferrari narrowly missed the constructors’ title in 2024 and hoped that with the seven-time world champion on board, they could make another title attempt. However, after nineteen Grands Prix, Hamilton reflects on a disappointing season – he too must adjust his ambitions and aims to secure his first podium finish in the remaining races.

During the recent United States Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton crossed the finish line in fourth place. This equaled his best ever result in Ferrari colors. His first podium with the Scuderia is still pending – an extra big disappointment for the Brit, who has managed to finish on the podium at least once in every Formula 1 season so far. Determined, Hamilton now focuses on the remaining races to maintain that streak.

Constructors’ Championship

In a conversation with the media in Austin, he explained what he still hopes to achieve towards the season finale – and the end of his first year with Ferrari. “I would say: consistency,” said the 40-year-old driver. “My goal is to achieve a podium finish at some point – if that is at all possible – and to finish ahead of Mercedes in the constructors’ championship. If I can help the team to become second in the constructors, that would be a nice conclusion to the year.””During the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Mercedes secured second place in the championship. Ferrari currently still holds the third spot, although the gap between the two top teams is only seven World Championship points. Red Bull also has a shot at second place; Max Verstappen and his team are just three points behind Scuderia. McLaren already crowned itself champion during the Singapore Grand Prix.

Despite his first podium with Ferrari still eluding him, Hamilton remains optimistic about the progress with the SF-25. He notices that the car has been improving in recent weeks. “It’s moving in the right direction,” he emphasized. “I’m feeling increasingly comfortable in the car and will delve deeper into the material in the coming days. I’m trying to figure out how to extract more performance from it – although it’s generally already going quite well.”
